You've Been Given a Diagnosis... Now what???
6:47

What does a diagnosis mean to you?

Do you take it as, "This is what the Doctor said, and this (insert prescription here) is what I need to take for said diagnosis?  Now go home and enjoy the symptoms of the disease and the medications, until they get worse and they can give you another prescription to cover more symptoms."

Or, do you take that diagnosis as "Finally, now I have a direction to start learning, start digging, and start educating myself about the root cause of that diagnosis?"  Finding the root of the problem, will, in turn, allow you to make changes to help your body reverse this imbalance and begin to heal.

Navigating Life After a Diagnosis is not easy.  This can be a time of uncertainty, fear, and confusion.  You are sometimes forced to make a snap decision on a diagnosis you know nothing about, or worse yet, be given a decision and plan, a protocol or standard of care, that may already be determined for you.

Don't get me wrong, medicine can truly save your life.  When I was diagnosed with aggressive breast cancer at 35, I was forever grateful to doctors who understood my cancer and knew exactly what to do to save my life.

When I had a Heart Attack, I am forever grateful for the Cardiology team that saved my life again with advanced treatments.

But, when we are handed a diagnosis that is not as life-threatening, or you are now dealing with the side effects of those life-saving treatments, I hope you will take the time and effort to pause and learn

The most common diagnoses, T2 diabetes, insulin resistance, arthritis, migraines, acid reflux, joint pain, neuropathy, anxiety, depression, and even heart disease and high blood pressure. These are all very common and come on slowly over time.

For example, You don't just wake up one day with diabetes.  This disease has been building and growing as your body went from insulin-resistant to full-blown diabetes. When your body and insulin can no longer deal with the high glucose,  your body has no choice but to start chucking extra glucose into storage.  This is where the problems begin.

Arthritis doesn't "just happen".  It builds inflammation in the joints over time, progressively getting worse until you can no longer deal with the pain.

You get the point.  Each diagnosis is your body crying out for help.  This is your body's "check engine" light.  Your body is screaming for your attention to say... "hey, something is out of balance, I need some help here".   We wouldn't ever ignore the "check engine" light in our car, so why do we ignore the signs your beautiful body is trying to tell you?

Let's do some reverse engineering of a few "ailments" together.

Take the very common T2 Diabetes - by definition is too much sugar (glucose) circulating in the blood.  Leading to disorders of the circulatory, nervous, and immune systems.

Just with that simple definition, can you see it is telling you what the problem is, and what it is going to lead to.  So, just simply thinking here, wouldn't it make sense to tell yourself "hey, I am consuming more glucose than my body can handle" and "If I don't change that, this is going to lead to circulatory (blockages and blood flow), nervous system (neuropathy, anxiety, depression,) and immune issues, (getting sicker and not able to fight off common issues, along with autoimmune diseases.)

Now let's take this one step further and find the common denominator.

  • Arthritis Pain - is caused by inflammation in the joints.
  • Neuropathy Pain - is caused by inflammation and damage to the nerves.
  • Cardiovascular Disease and High Blood Pressure - caused by inflammation in the heart, veins, and arteries.
  • Dementia and Alzheimer's, Migraines, and Brain Fog - all have the root problem of inflammation in the brain.

Do you see the common denominator of just these few ailments?  These ailments are all caused by too much inflammation in your body.

What controls the inflammation in your body???
