Our cancer survivor Harriet’s inspiring Journey to Healing. Cancer doesn’t discriminate by age, but neither does resilience, determination, or faith. Harriet Mauritsen, at 81 years young, is living proof that it’s never too late to fight for your health. Her story is one of courage, discipline, and hope—a testament to the power of the ketogenic lifestyle, a supportive community, and an unshakeable “why.”
From Cancer Warrior to Cancer Survivor
Harriet’s journey began in January 2021, when she was diagnosed with a high-grade form of uterine cancer known as serous carcinoma. It was an aggressive enemy that had invaded 75% of her uterine wall and spread to her lymph nodes. Harriet faced it head-on with surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation. For three years, she lived in remission, staying active and living her life.
But in August 2024, cancer returned. A lymph node near her aorta tested positive, and her CA125 tumor marker—a critical indicator for monitoring certain cancers—spiked to 122. Her oncologists informed her that the cancer was not curable and presented options to manage it, including immunotherapy and a harsh drug regimen. Harriet, however, wasn’t ready to accept that this was her only path forward.
Finding Hope Through Keto and the 21 Day Metabolic Kick
Harriet’s daughter-in-law introduced her to Dr. Boz’s book, Anyway You Can, which sparked a life-changing interest in the ketogenic lifestyle. Keto—a high-fat, low-carb diet that helps the body enter ketosis—offered a different kind of hope. Research suggests ketosis can starve cancer cells by depriving them of sugar, their primary fuel source.
Harriet jumped into the 21 Day Metabolic Kick with Dr. Boz, determined to give her body every possible advantage and be a cancer survivor. With morning ketone readings as high as 6.0, her body began transforming into a fat-burning, cancer-fighting machine. The results were astounding: her CA125 marker dropped from 122 to 64 in just six weeks—before she even started immunotherapy.
Joining the Journey to Healing Tribe
Inspired by her initial success, Harriet joined Journey to Healing for ongoing group coaching after the 21 Day Metabolic Kick. Being a cancer warrior myself, I took Miss Harriet in with heart and passion to help her continue to fight. Harriet came in with a strong discipline, and a warrior spirit. Together, we tackled her questions, celebrated her wins, and worked through her challenges. She was an inspiration to our group, and a force to be reckoned with on her discipline and dedication to the process. Despite her age and the complexities of her cancer treatment, Harriet never gave up. She embraced the discipline required to follow a ketogenic lifestyle, proving that it’s never too late to fight for your health. She is a warrior sister with a dedication that only another warrior will understand.
Our group became her tribe—a place where she found the support and accountability that kept her moving forward. Harriet’s progress became an inspiration for everyone around her, a shining example of what’s possible when you stay committed to the process.
Defying Expectations: Assumed Cancer-Free
In December 2024, Harriet’s oncologist, Dr. JT, delivered extraordinary news. Her lymph gland appeared empty of cancer cells, and her CA125 marker had dropped to 26. When Dr. JT asked if she was still taking the prescribed Lenvatanib pill, Harriet replied, “No, I never took it.” His reaction was priceless—jaw dropped, eyes wide open.
“Whatever you’re doing seems to be working!” he exclaimed. He told her to mark December 19 as Day 1: Assumed Cancer-Free. For Harriet, those words were the culmination of her hard work, faith, and dedication to her Journey to Healing. “No evidence of disease” is the phrase all warriors long to hear. She can proudly call herself a cancer survivor warrior!
Even her previously skeptical oncologist, Dr. JB, admitted he couldn’t argue with her results. He congratulated Harriet and expressed interest in writing a medical paper about her case. “I want to look into this keto diet,” he said, acknowledging its role in her remarkable turnaround. I believe we can change the medical industry, one doctor, and one strong warrior at a time!
Harriet’s Life Today: A Testament to Faith and Strength
Today, Harriet is a picture of strength and vitality. She balances her roles as a caregiver for her husband, a Bible study leader, and an active member of her community. She maintains her ketogenic lifestyle, continues to exercise regularly, and inspires others with her unwavering faith and determination.
Her story is a powerful reminder: age is not a barrier to health, healing, or hope. Harriet’s journey shows that with the right tools, faith in God, community, and mindset, you can fight for your health at any stage of life.

I am so proud of Harriet. Like a little sister smiling at her success and discipline from a distance.
I’ve watched her journey and she marched along trusting & leading the way for many of us.
I’ve bragged about her so much—and still do! The discipline, the wisdom, the vigor to heal. Every time she announced her numbers going down, I felt goose bumps. Right before my eyes, this ketogenic lifestyle was healing, Harriet. Thank God, I’d say. She did it gracefully and with so much Faith.
I will be star-struck forever. I just love seeing her in our Zoom calls. Thank you for being such a beautiful light to the world and an amazing role model.

Just today (2/19/25) I had a PT scan and the summary says NO METASTATIC DISEASE IS IDENTIFIED.
Thank you for your encouragement. So, Ketosis is still working and my CA 125 Cancer marker is still going down even in the normal range. God is watching over us and He loves everyone of us.
