The Frustration of a Stubborn Body

It’s frustrating to have the discipline, the mindset, and the willingness to do the hard things, yet my body still fights me. I have a very stubborn body. I know I am being impatient, and I want the shift to happen much faster than it is. But I must stay focused and remind myself that healing after cancer is not for sissy’s.

Today is Day 3 of the 21-Day Metabolic Kickstart (DMK) with Dr Boz, and I love coaching this class. Seeing my students walk this journey and witnessing the incredible changes in their chemistry in just three short weeks is inspiring.  I am focused and ready, my desire goes faster than my chemistry.  But watching the progress of these students reminds me that I am on the right path.  I just need to keep going.

But even while coaching, even while “doing all the right things,” my body remains stubborn. I hit my fat/protein macros, I closed my eating window by 1 PM, and I even prioritized sleep by going to bed early. Yet, I woke up with a morning glucose of 122. This is NOT okay. It’s a harsh reminder of how insulin resistant my body truly is.  It’s a reminder that even a small celebration meal can mess me up for days and weeks.

Can You Relate?

How many of you feel this struggle?

Even as a health coach and a veteran of this process, I still have to push my metabolic health further to achieve deeper healing. This journey is not a quick fix—it’s a lifelong commitment. The frustration is real, but I have to remind myself that the magic happens when the shift finally starts going my way.  It is coming.  I am so ready!!

I share this, not to discourage you, but to let you know: you are not alone.

This is not a 12-week course or a fad diet—this is a lifestyle. We must walk this out for a lifetime.

Yes, I get frustrated. Yes, I get discouraged. But what is the alternative? The alternative is going backward and undoing all the progress I’ve made. Going back to:

  • The pain
  • The neuropathy
  • The brain fog
  • The seizures
  • The joint pain
  • The medications

That is not an option. So today, I am picking myself up, brushing myself off, and taking the next step forward. I CAN and I WILL do this—one step at a time.  Yes, I am bullheaded!. (just ask Lance) lol

Fueling My Body for the Next Shift

Now, I’m off to order my favorite sardines and mackerel.

As much as I dislike sardines, I know what they will do for my chemistry. Friday can’t come soon enough!

The Lesson for Today

This is not always easy. This is not always fun. But giving up is NOT an option.

My body did not get sick overnight—not in a week, a month, or even a year. It will not heal overnight either.

And so today, I remind myself and thank the Lord for the healing this body has already done:

  • I am almost 23 years out from a 5-year survival rate for breast cancer.
  • My neuropathy, once debilitating, is now tolerable most of the time.
  • My brain fog is clearing.
  • My joint pain is gone.
  • My seizures are gone.
  • I am free of over 15 medications
  • I am OFF 18 YEARS OF OXYCONTIN FOR THE PAIN

Our bodies are healing miracles when we fuel them properly. I can do this, and so can you.  Come on tribe, let’s help each other to the next level.  If you haven’t decided to do our sardine challenge with us, I challenge you to do so.  You can read more on how and why we do this here on our post “CHOOSE YOUR HARD”.

If you would like to join us on this sardine challenge you can order yours and have them shipped right to you here at our Amazon Storefront Journey to Healing.

Reflection Questions

  • Have you ever felt like your body was fighting you, even when you were doing everything “right”? How did you handle it?
  • If you could give yourself one piece of encouragement to keep going, what would it be?
  • What small step can you take today to push through the frustration and move forward?
