It’s Monday, and I’m ready to get back to the basics again. The first weeks after falling off track are always challenging—it’s like clearing the slate, getting organized, and rebuilding from the ground up. Even as a veteran of the ketogenic and carnivore lifestyle, I still have to return to the foundational steps and track everything. Tracking is the key to success in metabolic health, as it helps me identify exactly where my chemistry is daily.  This is the hard part for me, but it is very much a necessity.

Back to the Basics

Right now, I feel the weight of stress, both emotionally and physically. My weight is up, my heart rate is higher than it should be, my blood pressure isn’t where I want it, and my Dr. Boz Ratio (DBR) is a clear indicator that my body isn’t in healing mode. But I know what I need to do. Getting back to the basics now. It’s time to put in the work, lower my insulin levels, and get my brain and body back into ketosis.

Today is a busy workday, and it would be easy to let stress win. But instead, I’m committing to tracking every bite, every sip, and every number. This data isn’t just numbers—it’s the map that will guide me back to a place of healing.

Bio-Hacking in the hot tub on a cold snowy night

My Daily Bio-Hack is going to be the hot tub.  The only time I really love and enjoy the cold Ohio winters and snow, is when I am sitting in the hot tub, feeling the snowflakes on my face and breathing crisp cold air.  At a whopping 16 degrees, Lance and I headed out under the stars to soak in the 105 degree hot tub.  This is one of the most relaxing things we do.  It’s absolutely beautiful outside with a full moon and clear skies.  This is how I love to enjoy the snow, and bio-hacking my way back to health.

Here’s where I’m starting today:

  • Blood Glucose (BG): 105
  • Blood Ketones (BK): 0.5
  • Dr. Boz Ratio (DBR): 210

These numbers tell me I have a lot of work to do, but I’ve been here before. This journey is about direction, not perfection. It’s about taking responsibility for my health, even on hard days. Healing doesn’t happen overnight; it’s a daily commitment to making the right choices.
