A Day of Much Love
Today, my heart is overflowing with gratitude and love. It’s one of those days that reminds me why life is such a precious gift, and why I work so hard to live a healthy life—not just for me, but for those I love.
50 Years of Love and Dedication
Today marks my parents’ 50th wedding anniversary. What an incredible journey they’ve had! My daddy came into our lives when my mom, my little brother, and I were living through an abusive situation. He didn’t have to, but he stepped in—becoming the husband my mom always needed and the father we desperately craved.
He became our hero.
For 50 years, I’ve watched my parents build a marriage rooted in love, honor, and respect. They’ve shown us what it means to weather life’s storms together, standing firm in their commitment to one another. My dad’s strength taught me that abuse of any kind is not love, and their union gave me the foundation to build a loving, healthy relationship with Lance.
Now, as my dad faces the heartbreaking decision to place my mom in a nursing home for their safety and health, I see another layer of their love. It’s a love so deep that even in pain, my dad puts her needs above his own. This chapter is hard for all of us, but it’s also a testament to the kind of love I hope to emulate in my final years.
Happy Anniversary, Momma and Daddy. You’ve given us the ultimate example of what love looks like, even in the hardest moments.
A Heavenly Birthday to Uncle David
Today is also the heavenly birthday of my Uncle David—a man who was more than an uncle. He was a father figure, a mentor, and a leader in our family. Uncle David and my Aunt Dolores were the ones who led me to the Lord, shaping my walk with Christ in ways I can never fully express.
Uncle David had a gift for making everyone feel seen, loved, and valued. His famous one-liners and unwavering faith left an imprint on all of us. He was the rock of our family, and his legacy lives on in every life he touched.
God’s timing is always perfect, but I miss him deeply. Until we meet again, Uncle David, know that your impact endures.
Moments That Matter
Today, I am grateful. Grateful for two extraordinary examples of marriage and love that have shaped who I am. These are the moments that matter. These are the moments I strive to build in my marriage, and they are why I work so hard to live a healthy life.
I want to be here—for my kids, my grandkids, and my great-grandkids. I want to give them the kind of love and dedication that my parents and Uncle David modeled for me.
- Now I ask you, What examples of love and dedication have inspired you in your life?
- How do these moments fuel your desire to live a healthy and happy life?
- How many of these moments are a part of your “why”?
Thank you for being here with me today. Remember, we’re in this together-for the long haul.
